MANAWA, WI – (WISS & WGBW) – The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Central Waupaca County, and operators at the Manawa Dam report the imminent failure of the dam on Little Wolf River causing flash-flooding downstream.

Thunderstorms moving across the area are producing heavy rain prompting the flash flood warning until 9:30 pm. Residents are urged to move to higher ground if possible. Manawa High School has been set up as an emergency shelter.

The City of Manawa reports Union Street, North Bridge Street, Howard street and Industrial Drive are flooded. Beech Street is washed away.

All entrances to the City of Manawa have been blocked.

Northbound and southbound lanes on State Highway 22 from County N to Wisconsin 54 in Waupaca County are closed due to flooding.

In the meantime, a Flash Flood Warning has also been issued for Outagamie County until 3:30 pm. Richmond Street south of I41 is reported to be under 1 to 2 feed of flowing water.

Never attempt to drive around or through flooded streets. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Turn around. Don’t drown.
