“We’re hoping our listeners will hear what’s going on in Northeast Wisconsin from both an issue standpoint and a fun standpoint,” Michaels explains. “We’ll feature critical topics like homelessness, hunger, and job loss, along with answers and resources in what we call our cover story. But we’ll also shine a light on the fantastic events and entertainment happening around us.”
The area is bustling with activity, from the renowned EAA AirVenture Fly-In – bringing thousands of aviation enthusiasts to Oshkosh, to the world’s largest U.S. Open Grass Volleyball tournament, Lifest, a major Christian music festival, the Oshkosh Jazz Festival, featuring artists from around the world, and of course the Green Bay Packers.
“If you live in NEWisco and you’re bored, you’re not trying very hard,” Michaels adds with a laugh. “There’s so much happening, and we get the wonderful opportunity to share it with you so we can all be tourists together in our own communities.”
“NEWisco Weekend isn’t just about covering major events; it’s about finding the unique, often overlooked stories that give depth to the community,” Hale says. “We want to look at a story from the side, not just head-on. Plus, we’ll share comedy and entertainment from Northeast Wisconsin-based personality Pete Schwaba, host of Nite Lite on the Civic Media radio network, along with a different view of sports from Nite Lite producer Konrad Krueger, weather insights from local Meteorologist Brittney Merlot, and features focusing on music and you from network correspondent Teri Barr who grew up in this area.”
Listeners can also look forward to a conversation meant to pick your brain from contributor Amanda Nimmer, and segments like “The Truth Booth,” where community members share their thoughts, concerns, and passions.
“It’s a chance for people to voice their personal truths and feel heard,” Hale shares. “We want our show to be a palette cleanser on the weekend, something that leaves you feeling good and connected to your community.”
