By Jimmie Kaska, Civic Media StaffWISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Mark Born has been called the winner of the race for the 37th Assembly District in Wisconsin.
The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.
The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered solid Republican with a projected margin of 26 points.
Born, who was first elected to the Assembly in 2012, is a full-time legislator. He is the co-chair of the Joint Committee on Finance and is a member of eight different committees or councils. Born was drawn out of the 39th District he currently represents.
Born won the Republican primary handily, but it was a bit surprising to see one of the co-chairs of the powerful Joint Finance Committee challenged and see that challenger gain more than 30% of the vote.
Born defeated Democratic challenger LaToya Bates.
