ASHWAUBENON, WI- (WGBW) – A sports bar in Ashwaubenon hosted a “49ers Invasion” party Saturday. 14-year-old Joseph De La Rosa, decked out in his Packers’ gear, attended the party with relatives, Niners fans, from Las Vegas. During the event, De La Rosa’s number was called to win a Christian McCaffrey autographed football.
A now-viral Facebook video on his brother’s page shows 49ers representatives teasing De La Rosa about being a Packers fan and not giving him the football. They opted to give it to a Niners fan instead.
“Let me ask you something,” the representative said in the video. “You obviously think highly of your Packers, right? Can you just tell me what you think of the 49ers?
“It doesn’t matter what you think!” he shouted amongst cheers and jeers from the crowd.
The giveaway was free to enter, as all guests were automatically enrolled with their free general admission ticket. The Wisconsin Division of Gaming website says that means it is a sweepstakes and not a raffle, so it is not regulated.
The 49ers organization has confirmed that they are mailing De La Rosa a signed helmet instead. The helmet is signed by Niners safety, Talanoa Hufanga. They expect it to arrive at De La Rosa’s home by the end of the week.
