Consumers Cooperative Association of Eau Claire Exits Bankruptcy

Consumers Cooperative Association of Eau Claire, also known as Mega! CO-OP, has announced a successful exit from bankruptcy.

According to a press release from Mega! CO-OP, the company exited bankruptcy on June 7 and can now begin to implement its transition plan going forward.

Around the Chippewa Valley, closed Holiday convenience stores will be converted to Mega! CO-OP convenience stores and Bp branded fuel throughout June and July. The change to Bp branded fuel will begin after the 4th of July weekend and should be completed by the end of the month.

In addition to the rebranding efforts, Mega! CO-OP will also introduce a new community pump program, which will take proceeds from gallons of gas pumped and donate them to local schools and community-sponsored programs. The company plans to keep their stores open during the transition to minimize the disruption to customers.

“Our business partners, team members, loyal cooperative members, and the communities we serve were crucial in getting the Co-op to this point,” said CEO Mike Buck. “We are excited to revitalize our stores with new programs, a fresh look, and a quality fuel partner in our continuous effort to be a great place to work, a great place to shop, and a great place to belong.”

The bankruptcy exit and new initiatives will come as welcome news to many Eau Claire area residents, who have spent weeks driving past closed Holiday gas stations and convenience stores. The Consumers Cooperative Association of Eau Claire currently has over 20,000 members.
