MINNEAPOLIS, Mn (CIVIC MEDIA) – Ridder Arena was the scene for the latest Wisconsin Badger National Championship, and this time it was the Badger Woman’s Hockey team hoisting a trophy.
Bucky defeated The Ohio State University 4-3 in overtime, thanks to Kirsten Simms.
Badger Kirsten Simms tied the Frozen Four championship game on a penalty shot and won it in overtime on a rebound to give Wisconsin a 4-3 overtime win.
Wisconsin finished it’s season 38-1-2 and won the Frozen Four Championship for a record 8th time in University history.
This marked the third time in three years the teams have met for the title and the second time UW has won it.
Kirsten Simms was also the hero in the 2023 championship game, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory.
