OSHKOSH, Wis. (WISS) – In May 2026, 155 people working with a food service provider at UW-Oshkosh (UWO) will lose their jobs when the provider ends its contract with the university

This week, Elior, Inc filed a notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and Oshkosh Mayor Matt Mugerauer saying the contract with UWO is ending and they will be “forced to conduct layoffs.”

The notice further states, “All 155 affected employees have been notified of their separation dates and that their separation from employment will be permanent.”

Alexander Hummel, Executive Director of University Relations and Communications, sent a statement to Civic Media’s WISS.

“Elior has chosen not to take part in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s current, ongoing food services vendor selection process. The company’s contract was already set to conclude next spring,” the statement reads. “Elior’s decision will not affect UWO students, faculty, or staff. UW-Oshkosh will have a new dining services provider in place next spring to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted service for our campus community and guests.”

The WARN Notice states that the layoffs will begin on May 17, 2026, when Elior’s contract with UWO ends.
