MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Chris Taylor, a judge on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, has won the 2026 election for state Supreme Court over Maria Lazar.

The Associated Press called the race at 8:43 p.m. on election night, Tuesday, April 7.

Taylor, who was backed by liberal-leaning groups in the officially non-partisan race, quickly earned the nod as results arrived shortly after the polls closed on Tuesday night.

Taylor’s win gives liberal-leaning judges on the state Supreme Court a 5-2 advantage following this year’s election.

This breaking news story will be updated.

All election night results are unofficial.
