Wisconsin Broadcasters Association
The WBA Awards Gala took place in Middleton, WI Saturday night with around 400 members in attendance. These awards recognize outstanding achievements in different categories and markets by members of Wisconsin Broadcasters and give winners the ultimate prize: Peer Recognition.
Representing WGBW at the Awards Gala this year were WGBW Station Manager Todd Michaels, Meteorologist Brittney Merlot, and Production Director Amanda Nimmer. Now let’s move on to the wins!
In April of 2024, Production Director Amanda Nimmer successfully convinced Maino and the Mayor hosts, John Maino & Jim Schmitt, to participate in Downtown Green Bay’s annual Trash Bash event.
Amanda filmed the three of them picking up trash along Washington Street all the way down to Walnut St, running into community leaders, and interviewing pedestrians who walked by. Watch below:
Former Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt celebrated his birthday on air in early June of 2024 with numerous amounts of surprises and fun.
From Elvis making a surprise appearance to singing Happy Birthday in Swedish from American/Swedish band 7000apart, the early morning shenanigans earned the guys special recognition and a second place spot for Best Morning Show in Wisconsin. Listen below:
I’m SO proud of our entire Civic Media team for a great showing at last night’s WBA Awards. You should all be proud for your continued commitment to our communities, creating award winning content, and exceptional journalism. It’s an honor to work with each of you!
