38 years after Eleanore Roberts was murdered in her Saratoga home, her family received justice and closure with a conviction thanks to the work of the Wood County Sheriff’s department.
Last week the department received a $10,000 gift and thank you from Eleanore Roberts’ family. The gift marks the 40th anniversary of her murder and is to be used by the department at their discretion, in her memory.
The family is especially thankful for the dedication and professional work of David Laude and Robert Levendoske who continued investigating for years after they retired, along with all the other men and women of the Wood County Sheriff’s department.
The sheriff’s department, with the help of David and Bob have decided to use this generous gift to honor one staff member each year. Sheriff Shawn Becker stated the recipents will be “someone who goes above and beyond, helping out the victim or family of a victim” and noted ” This money will last for many years”.
Lon and Mary Robert’s photograph, along with that of Eleanore are on display at the new Sheriff’s Department to remind people of the tragedy they suffered and the generosity they have shown.
